You CAN get an Auth / EPP Code on an Expired Domain... BUT - there are some RESTRICTIONS:
First RESTRICTION, you must request that we send it manually. Open a Tech Support Ticket and make the request.
Second RESTRICTION, we can ONLY send the Auth / EPP Code to the REGISTRANT (WHOIS) Email Address that was on file when it EXPIRED. If that is WRONG or OUTDATED, you MUST Renew the Domain for another year, then once it is Renewed, you can Modify that info again. WHOIS information cannot be updated on an EXPIRED domain.
Third RESTRICTION, the Expired Domain must be within the non-guaranteed 29-day grace period. If the non-guaranteed 29-day grace period is past or has not been granted - you will not be able to get your Auth / EPP Code. Please contact support if you have more questions.
There are NO EXCEPTIONS for any of the Restrictions.
